To ensure the highest possible security (End-to-End Encryption) for your data, follow these steps to encrypt your files on your own computer using 7-Zip before uploading them to Transfers2.
Part 1: Encrypting Files Offline with 7-Zip
1. Open 7-Zip
Ensure the free 7-Zip software is installed on your computer. Select the files or folder you want to send, right-click, and choose 7-Zip > Add to archive...
2. Configure Format and Encryption
- Archive format: Select zip or 7z.
- Encryption: Type a strong, unique password in the fields on the right side of the window.
- Encryption method: Select AES-256 (this is the global security industry standard).
- Encrypt file names: Check this box (if available) so unauthorized users cannot even see the titles of your documents.
3. Create the Encrypted Archive
Click OK. 7-Zip will generate a new, secure file (e.g.,

4. Open the Website and Log In
Go to transfers2.com and log into your account.
5. Select the 7-Zip File
Drag and drop your newly created
.7z or .zip file directly into the upload window.6. Choose Your Delivery Method
- Via Email: Enter the recipient's email address and your own.
- Via Link: Generate a direct download link. This option is ideal if you want to share the link yourself through chat programs like Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp.
7. Double Password Protection (Optional)
Click the settings icon (gear wheel). You can add a second password layer through Transfers2 for the download link itself. This creates an extra barrier for unauthorized access.
8. Upload and Finish
Click Send or Generate Link and wait for the upload progress bar to reach 100%. Do not close your browser tab until it finishes.
The Golden Rule of Security: Split Your Data Channels
Once your transfer is complete, follow this vital step: never share your passwords through the same channel as your download link.
If you send the download link via email, send the 7-Zip password through a different medium, such as a text message, Signal, or WhatsApp. If the email is intercepted, your documents remain completely unreadable to hackers thanks to the unbreakable AES-256 encryption.
